My 2018 Vacation - Where Am I Going?

May 07, 2018

Hi readers! It honestly feels like forever since I put out new content because I have been silently dying with strep throat and a torn knee meniscus so writing new content has been a non-existing activity as of late. However I'm feeling pretty good at the moment so I'm ready to start writing a little bit!

So this summer I will be jetting off on holiday for the first time since 2015, and I'm so excited because I'll be going to my Italian family's home town in southern Italy. The town itself is called Ostuni and is located near the coastline on the heel of the Italian "boot" which makes it great for visiting the seaside and enjoying countryside views.
Ostuni
My usual daily routine begins with a walk all around the town with some cool water just taking in the scenery, it's a really relaxing way to wake up and enjoy some sun. I finish my walk with a nice sit down in the cool Villa where I watch people go by, I find it so peaceful to gather my thoughts in a beautiful setting.

After this I get ready for the seaside and put together Italian sandwhiches for lunch and get my beach bag full of snorkeling gear, we used to get the bus to the beach but the last few times I've been we actually have our own car that my Dad drives in Italy so we can go at any time! At the beach we sunbathe, enjoy coffee, snorkeling and looking for fish and pretty sea plants - one year my dad brought a waterproof phone case so I could film myself swimming underwater and show the fishes and plants I could see!

This is our favourite daytime activity but sometimes we have days out to this nice shopping center in a town called Brindisi where they have a few of my favourite stores like Kiko, Zara and H&M. I can't shop too much here because of the luggage allowance for the plane ride home but I usually pick up some make up and a few pieces of clothing from here.

In the afternoons we have lunch and then a nap before getting ready and going out in the evening, this is the time when we go for a walk around town to see what's open and what's to do. My usual routine with my dad is to go for a walk then hit up a bar or two for a cold glass of wine or beer then we grab a pizza and sit on a high wall looking out to see, at night time you can see ships swimming by and even the occasional lightening storm out to see.
The Seaside At Night
I'm usually there for 3 weeks and each day is a whole new experience, but this year I'll be with my boyfriend as well as my Dad so I'll be acting as a tour guide as well as enjoying myself - I can't wait to share the town I've grown up in with my relatives.

Thanks for reading!

I'll be in Italy for 2.5 weeks next month. Sadly, I don't think I'll be in the town where you're family is from!

  11. It's exciting that you're going to Ostuni this summer. I know you'll have a great time considering how you get to check out the seaside.

It's always great to take walks - gotta get those steps in! I am so jealous of the snorkeling opportunity. You get to swim with fishes and see aquatic life up close. Hehe, shopping is always the best part. ♥
