Zara's Top Smoothie Recipes

August 17, 2017

Waking up on a sunny morning and going down to the kitchen to grab a fresh fruit smoothie is the best way to start my morning and lately I've been getting creative with various recipes. Here are a few of my favourites;

1. Blueberry, strawberry and cucumber - This one is my usual go-to because I love the smooth texture of the strawberries, the hydrating properties of the cucumber and the sharp taste of the blueberries. Together it makes for a sweet and cooling beverage that really wakes me up in the morning! I always add ice to my smoothies to give it that extra cold and fresh kick with every sip.

2. Instead of cucumber with the berries I sometimes add spinach because it is a really healthy ingredient to start your day; spinach is very low in fat, rich in vitamins and provide you with iron and protein. This is the drink I have before the gym because it gives me a ton of energy and keeps me full until I can have lunch without being too heavy on the stomach.

3. Pineapple, strawberries and cucumber - I love pineapple so much and when its blended with the other ingredients it has more of a thin juice texture than a smoothie with a refreshing aftertaste. As you'll have noticed strawberries are a common theme in all my smoothies because I love the taste and how thirst-quenching they are.

4. Blueberries, banana and strawberries - For those who likes super sweet smoothies this one is the one for you; the banana alone is extremely sugary so combine that with the berries and you have one sweet beverage! I like this for when I don't have time for breakfast and need something quick, its substantial, easy to make and delicious.

I've gotten into the habit of having one of these every morning to give my body a rejuvenating start to the day and it's really made a difference with my energy levels! They're all made in my Smoothie 2GO that I got from Tesco for around £15 and it has been a life saver, hopefully these recipes inspire you to make your own delicious smoothies.
