Who is Zara? ILiveItIBlogIt

August 13, 2017

Hello readers and possibly fellow bloggers;

Earlier this week I was approached by one of my all time favourite bloggers John Sennett (his blog can be found HERE) regarding his new hashtag "#ILiveItIBlogIt" and he had asked me to either write a post, record a vlog or use the hashtag on the 13th of August demonstrating a life experience (or experiences) that makes me the person I am today. I graciously accepted and I couldn't wait to take part and here is my post;

As a kid I always had a keen sense of curiosity; whether from books and things I saw on the TV, listening and watching people around me or exploring things within my reach that could possibly teach me something new. I also always felt a little distanced from other people my age, I didn't always fit in and because of that I developed a sense of independence that has helped me through life. At school I loved the subjects where I could write, read and do hands on work like science, english, cookery and languages (I took German as a GCSE and got a B!)

After school came college and oh boy that was a trip and a half! I didn't really take college seriously until this year where I started again in a medical based science course - which I passed and got a diploma for! I have such a passion for what I'm doing and I've recently received an invitation onto the second year of my course so I can go back in a few weeks and learn a whole new bunch of stuff. The career I'm aiming for is either a Pathology based job or Microbiology because those are my favourite topics of Science hands down, to get there I need to work hard and be focused.
My diploma
But it isn't just my academic journey that has helped me be the person I am now; my boyfriend Craig has shaped me into my current self quite nicely with his support and guidance. I'm very much a loving person and will take a night in with Craig over a night out any day, there's just something cosy about being around people you love when you need them. We're going on 3 years now and in those 3 years he's seen me cry, laugh, grieve, fight and no matter what he's always been there for me.

Another reason I am where I am is my mother, shes a HUGE reason actually. I recently moved back in with her after leaving my dads and she took me in, rebuilt any confidence I had lost and provided me with a safe space to be myself. People ask me about my dad and I'll keep it simple; he doesn't know how to be a parent, sure he can throw money at you and take you out but his temper isn't worth it so I don't even bother anymore. His loss! But my mum is worth every minute of my time and I am forever thankful I have someone like her who goes out of her way to keep me happy (and in line at times) even if it means a sacrifice on her part.
One of the best photos I have of her; at a friends house for Christmas in 2011
Because of all these reasons I have developed a caring, loving side brought on by my loved ones and a fierce, hard working side brought on by challenges facing me on an academic level. Who is Zara? She's a sweetheart with a good brain and a mouth that never stops talking (unless shes eating).

I live it. I blog it.
