In The Bloglight - A Personal Interview

August 02, 2017

So a few days ago I was approached by a blogger on Twitter asking me to take part in her upcoming "In The Bloglight" interview series featuring an array of bloggers, and she had asked me to be the first person she interviewed! I of course said yes immediately and I was honored that she wanted me to take part and that she wanted me to go first!

The sweetheart in question is none other than "Abbie Chic" from http://www.abbiechic.com/ (You can find her on Instagram as @lovedbyabbie) - Check her out she's wonderful!
She sent me an email with some questions to answer and answer them I did!

1. Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?

Well I am a 21 year old medical student that has a passion for writing and the sciences, I started blogging as a way to express my love for writing and maybe find a cool new hobby out of it. My blog (Itsallzara) combines all the types of my interests and personality in one, for example I have my fitness and health sections, my food and cooking sections, beauty reviews and lifestyle posts.

2. Describe how did you first get into blogging?

I saw a blogger on my Twitter timeline and I actually thought it'd be cool to start a blog myself so I created an account and got stuck in! I didn't know about blogger chats, RT accounts or hashtags that would help me promote my posts for a while so at first I was a tad lonely.

3. How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently?

At the moment I'm away from college so I have the free time to make a schedule and stick to it the best I can, but when I'm back at college I will have to make a timetable that I can follow and pray my college work doesn't make me too tired to post!

4. What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from that?

My greatest failure has to be my first two tries at college; the first time I got too wrapped up in socializing and friendship drama that I lost my chance at achieving any qualifications, the second time I was struggling with my mental health and had to drop out. Both of those times are still things I wish I'd done differently, I wish I'd focused more on my work the first time around and had reached out for some help the second time. Who knows where I'd be now.

5. What is your greatest achievement outside of blogging?

Passing my first year of Medical Sciences, without a doubt! It's been nerve wracking, educational and annoying in places but I finished early with top grades and I am delighted - bring on the second year. I also lost 2 stone recently so thats made me a happy camper!

6. What do you do in your spare time?

I hit the gym, I walk my dog, I cook and photograph the meals I make, I hit up social media to chat with people and browse and of course blogging. I also love days in bed watching Netflix with snacks and maybe a few gaming sessions between episodes, I'm very much a chilled out, nerdy gamer.

7. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and explain why they are your favourites?

There are quite a few I enjoy that I see floating on my Twitter, unfortunately naming them all would take a very long time but the reason I appreciate their work so much is the amount of time and effort spent making their blogs unique and special. I admire every single blogger because they all try their best and they produce some brilliant content that deserves recognition!

8. What’s the best thing a blogger can give to their readers?

Honesty. As someone who has spent a long time reading blogs and articles I hate feeling like the author of a particular piece is just repeating parrot phrases that they feel will get them noticed. Negative reviews? Cool! Rant? Lay it on me! Personal posts? I appreciate them. When someone makes the effort to be genuine I feel like I can relate to them and their blog a bit more which is better for me personally.

9. What’s your favourite film/holiday destination/item of clothing and book?

Film; Van Helsing
Holiday Destination; My hometown in Italy
Item of clothing; My trusty black leggings that work for every occasion.
Book; The Radleys by Matt Haig

10. If you could have one superpower for the day what would it be and why?

Mind reading, I want to hear people's honest opinions for a day that would be fun - plus I could get the best gossip without even trying!

11. If you could collaborate on your blog with any other social media personality, who would it be and why?

Gosh thats a tough question, I think I would actually love to pair up with one of my favourite Youtubers like Jenna Marbles, Jontron or Rooster Teeth because I've become obsessed with Youtube channels that focuses on gaming, lifestyle and podcasts!

12. What are your aspirations for your future? House, kids, marriage and or travel for example?

Well I  want to finish college and uni then get a good job and settle down with my boyfriend. We've definitely discussed a family so that will be an option in the future but until we make the decision to have children I would love to travel the world.

13. What is your family life set up? Do you live with family, other half, alone?

I live with my mother and adorable yet extremely high energy dog Dean, I would love to live with my boyfriend at some point though!

14. What has been your favourite purchased item this year?

Lady Gaga tickets, can't wait to see my queen in October!

15. And finally what does blogging mean to you?

It means hard work but also recognition and a chance to make new friends in a place that is quite friendly and inspiring. It is sometime I would recommend for those wishing to branch out and express their creative style, and should anyone need any advice I'm far from a professional but I'm always happy to help!

Thank you to Abbie for not only letting me be part of her series but to select me first! I really enjoyed taking part, check out her blog everyone shes lovely!

  2. Hi Zara! This was a really enjoyable read and I really like the idea of having a blogger interview - I think it's really cute. I remember starting out and knowing nothing about blogging and having no idea how to promote. I didn't even realise there was a whole network out there on different platforms like Twitter! It's so easy to get caught up in a schedule and forget to make time for blogging isn't it? Thanks for sharing this and good luck with uni and blogging xx
