Lush - Caca Rogue Henna

July 02, 2017

Hello readers, happy Sunday!

Yesterday while in Lush's Meadowhall store I purchased many cosmetics with the help of a very sweet girl who set me up with my first ever Lush henna block! I've never used henna before so this was all new to me. I purchased the Caca Rogue colour which is supposed to give your hair a red/orange colour, this is much more exciting than my toffee brown hair that I began with.
Lush Caca Roque henna
In order to use this henna you must break it up into cubes and add it to a heatproof bowl, after that hot water is added to make it into a paste like substance. While mixing the henna its best to have it placed over another bowl or a pan of hot water so the heat from underneath can melt the cocoa butter inside the henna blocks.
Shoutout to my mum for her kind work on my hair
Once its in a pasta format you can apply it on your hair using a brush or your fingers whatever works best. Note: it has a really potent smell that some may find a bit overpowering, I personally liked it because it reminded me of Turkish delight which I love anyway. The texture of the paste is also tealeaf like and can be messy and crumbly so some preparation is a good idea.
The process of applying henna (thank you mum)
After it was applied I sat with a bag and a towel on my head for 3 hours, giving the heat a chance to really work the henna into my hair. For red or orange tones the longer you leave it the better but this isn't necessary for darker shades. Once it had been left for 3 hours I washed it out (with help from my mama) and it looked like tea leaves were falling off my scalp!
Before & After
As you can see the colour difference is amazing, my hair also looks more shiny and smooth too! All in all I'm super impressed with the result and will be using this again for sure.
