Cooking With Zara - Vegan Pizza!

Like food? Like making food? Like reading blogs about making food? Well you came to the right place, hello! I've done 5 of these in the past and they've all had some good feedback so here is part 6 - Home made pizza!

I looooove pizza so much, and I've never really made my own pizza before I just watched my Nonna do (and tasted bits that she gave me) so with the help of my mother I made my own vegan pizza:

 To do this you just need to fashion yourself a pizza base out of bread dough and this is what you'll need and how to make it:

Ingredients;
- White bread flour (the amount depends on how big a base you want, I used about 300g)
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- Dried yeast (again the amount depends on how big a base you want I think I used one sachet for mine)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Olive oil
I had some bread dough left over after I made the pizza base so I made a vegan cheese bread loaf with the excess which was really nice and came out well:

Method;

1. Pour 1 1/2 cups warm water into a large bowl; sprinkle with yeast and let stand until it goes foamy (can take 5 minutes)

2. Mix your sugar, oil, and salt into the yeast then add flour and stir until a sticky dough is formed. Transfer dough to a bowl and cover it with tea towel or cling film and place it in a warm, draft-free place until dough has doubled in size, (1 hour should do it).

3. Take it out of the warmed place and turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and gently knead 1 or 2 times before using. Don't be afraid to really knead it and get your hands on it, you want it soft and malleable.

4. When its softened then you want to begin rolling it out, like so:
5. Roll it out (keeping your rolling pin floured to avoid sticking) until you have a pizza base shape that you are happy with. (See mine below). After I rolled mine out I folded the edges in to make the crust thicker because I love a thick crust on pizza!
6. Now you can put toppings on, I personally opted for mushrooms, tomatoes, vegan cheese, olives, jalapenos and onions but you can add whatever you like (including pineapple, go team pineapple!) savoury or sweet!
7. Drizzle some olive oil onto your pizza before putting it in the oven so it wont dry out, put it in the oven and wait for a good 20 minutes.

8. Remove the pizza from the oven when its done, let it cool and enjoy!
