My First Blogging Event!

March 25, 2017

Thursday 23rd March I was invited by a lovely blogger called Lorna to an event in Doncaster at The Body Shop. The event focused on skin care and their Mother's Day skin range but for all the bloggers going there were various treatments, refreshments and advice available.
Cosmetics and Champagne - A Girls Dream

I of course having never been to a blogging event was nervous, excited and unsure of what would occur, but I felt immediately welcome and made comfortable by the members of staff within the Lakeside Village store. At the start of the event we were gathered around and given an official welcome from a lovely member of staff named Charlotte who told us what treatments were available to us and what we could do, look at and buy. We were also informed that we were taking home a few freebies to sample and discuss in our blog posts and I will get to that shortly.

Getting Pampered!
I opted for a skin treatment first as lately my skin has been through the wars, since starting college I've had breakouts after breakouts and I've needed all the help I can get.

So here were the products Charlotte used on my skin and there is a tea tree cleanser, a seaweed toner and a Vitamin E aqua boost lotion. She started by gently removing my make up and applying the cleanser which felt lovely on the skin, followed by the toner and finally the moisture boosting lotion. After measuring both my hand and face for moisture I had up to 30% more moisture on my skin because of the lotion.

Very refreshing
The next product to touch my skin was this amazing Vitamin C energising face mist! Designed to wake up tired skin and rejuvenate any dull or lifeless pores.

I love this because not only does it really clean and revitalise your skin it smells like citrus! I adore a good orange scent and this smells fantastic. After this my skin treatment was about done and even though I had no make up on my skin looked and felt as if it had a gorgeous smooth, clear and oil-free complexion. Definitely a great freebie to get because the wonders it works on the skin is amazing, even after one usage!

Gorgeous Cosmetics
Another treatment I had was a foundation skin match designed to pick out the perfect colour and tone for my skin, now I struggle with foundations due to my mixed skin pigment but through the help of a great member of staff, I found the perfect shade!

Due to my half Italian heritage there are parts of me that have darker pigments and parts of me that are paler like my English side so it can be rather difficult to find the right foundation, and then its finding the consistency. I can't have oily foundations due to the oily Mediterranean texture of parts of my face but I can't have thicker ones either.

Such a gorgeous colour, thanks Kerry!
This is the colour that Kerry found for me and it was actually the first colour she tried on my face! It managed to give me a gorgeous coverage without being too overbearing or patchy, which is a huge success for me as I either seem to get very strong foundations or thin, watered down colours.

Kerry applied this on my face and she was pleasantly surprised how great the colour looked on my skin (and so was I) which proved a real success for our first try! She also added some blusher to make my cheeks pop and just a touch of shimmery highlight to bring out my cheekbones. The foundation was also one of my freebies as we all got a free bottle of foundation matching our skin to take home with us!

Pink heaven!
The store itself had some amazing products advertised including their Mother's Day section which featured a lot of pink, a lot of rose and gorgeous little gift boxes.

Unfortunately due to my mother having terribly sensitive skin I would have to have her with me before I got her any of these goodies so she could give them the "OK", I wouldn't want to get her something she couldn't use!

But if you know your mother would enjoy these gorgeous pink and rose themed gifts then bring her down to your local Body Shop and spoil her a little!

The range I chose for my hand massage
The last treatment I experienced in this fantastic store was a hand massage given by a very kind lady who's name has escaped my memory and I feel awful because she was so sweet.

She let me choose my scent and favourite products to have massaged onto my skin and with a bowl of warm water she lulled me into a strawberry scented state of relaxation. After the massage the skin on my hands felt absolutely amazing and smelled like the most fresh fruit salad you could imagine! I highly recommend checking out their body scrubs, skin sorbets and hand creams because it feels amazing having such soft, sweet smelling skin.

And now onto my purchases, because who on Earth can walk into The Body Shop and leave empty handed??

This smells divine - highly recommend
This is a gorgeous shower cream that is scented with cocoa butter and smells like a creamy heaven!

I usually don't like buttery scents when it comes to shower gels and I tend to sway more towards the berries, the citrus, the musky sort of scents - so why did I buy this? Well I got this despite how many shower gels and products I already have because it drew me in with its scent and was reduced to £3!

I think this would be great if you have sensitive skin and want something that's a little soothing on the skin because cocoa butter has amazing qualities for easing sore or red skin but don't take my word for it, check in store before purchasing!

10/10 for this product definitely.
I've never used official primer before applying make up simply because I always used coconut oil and that seemed to suit my skin well, but I had to have this because it has some amazing qualities such as;

1. It mattifies the skin leave it looking smooth and not oily.
2. It reduces pores and since I have huge pores around my nose I was so happy with this.
3. It doesn't leave any residue on your face that may clump your make up together.
4. You don't need foundation strictly once you've used this because it does such a good job of making your skin look so smooth and clean its great on its own!
Before Kerry did my foundation she applied some of this and I got to see the effect of it immediately as the pores around my nose and cheeks looked almost invisible! It also gave my skin a really nice matte texture and that only continued when she put the foundation.

All in all it was an amazing experience for my first bloggers event and I only wish I lived closer so I could visit the store more often! Thank you to Charlotte, Kerry and the sweetheart who massaged my skin - You were all so welcoming and friendly it made me feel at ease as soon as I walked in the door. Interested in these products? Go to your local Body Shop and have a look!
