Kiko Milano - My First Experience

January 16, 2017

Hello all! Today's blog post will be reviewing the cosmetics I got over Christmas from Kiko Milano (website link at the bottom) and the positives and negatives of these products!

My First Batch Of Products
Without further ado I shall begin my review of my Kiko Milano Christmas haul in which I bought;

1.Three Eye shadows (pink, emerald and sea green)
2.Two nail varnishes (red and nude)
3.A cherry colour lip gloss
 4.Foundation
5.Concealer

1. The Eye Shadows (9/10)

These were around £2.10 on their website during their Christmas sale and as a big lover of eye shadow I snapped these up real fast!

Positives;
I personally really like these and I find they have great colour in them; they are small and easy to carry around with you in a makeup bag or purse. The two greens go great together in a dark to light contrast and little product is needed when using them; a little goes a long way! They're cheap and despite their price give a very professional finish.

Negatives;
I must say I am rather disappointed by the pink, as what you get is more of a silver colour featuring pink glitter as opposed to a more solid pink colour but it’s still pretty for the inner corner of your eye or for a glittery effect. That's really the only negative thing I can say about this product though because given the price and the positive side to them all, there's not much to pick about.

2. The Lip Gloss (8/10)
This was around £2-3 on their website during the Christmas sale and you can NEVER have too many lip glosses so I made sure I got one!

Positives;
This colour is so pretty and is suitable for daytime use and nighttime use! During the day it gives you a cute cherry lip tone to go with natural style make up and at night gives you a sultry pout to go with heavier colours. This is another small and easy to carry product that cost very little and goes a long way!

Negatives;
The only thing I'll say about this is the product itself is quite a thick consistency so you only need very little otherwise you end up looking sticky and greasy mouthed. But you can decide yourself how much colour you want to build on your lips, if a thick coat is what you're after then this is the gloss for you! (Just be careful your hair doesn't stick to it, windy days can be a nightmare for this!)

 3. The Nail Varnishes (3/10)
I have only used one of these so far and that is the nude colour so my positives and negatives will mainly focus on that one, but I can assume the red colour will be similar in texture and consistency. These were another on sale during Christmas and they were around £6 in total.

Positives;
Well, they were fairly cheap and there were lots of colours to choose from but I adore nude nail colours and red is one of my favourites as well so I chose these. They're quite cute, they come in small little bottles and they're easy to pop into a make up bag or purse for painting your nails on the go (I always use to paint mine at school, much to my teachers annoyance)

Negatives;
Alright, so with the nude colour I wasn't impressed at all. The texture was very weak and lethargic looking with little colour to it. When I applied it to my nail there were lots of patches where there was no colour at all and it was such a runny, thin consistency that it chipped before it had even dried properly. I have recently had acrylics removed so my nails are still repairing themselves and I wanted something to put on them while they grew out and was not impressed by this product at all.

4. The foundation and concealer (8/10)
These products weren't on the sale and I think the foundation was around £10 and the concealer was around £4.

Positives;
Well the concealer is great, a lovely texture and not too thick so when I applied powder on top of it there wasn't a cake-face texture to it thank goodness. One of the best I've ever used for sure. Now the foundation IS a good texture and spreads very easily onto the skin without staining my beauty blenders too much. Both products were easy to apply and gave me maximum coverage.

Negatives;
Literally the ONLY issue I had with this was I accidentally got the wrong colour foundation. I had expected a nice beige tone and what actually arrived was a slightly orange colour. I didn't realise until I put it onto my skin and noticed my face was several shades darker than my neck and the rest of me. I truly believe if I hadn't got the wrong colour these products would get a solid 10/10 because the texture is incredible. Shame about the colour but this is what you get for online buying, would recommend you go in store and get a second opinion from a Kiko staff member unless you are VERY sure what colour you need.

 So there you have it! On the whole I would say Kiko are an excellent cosmetics company and they are cruelty free which is great! I personally like most of what I bought it’s just a shame about the watery nail varnish and the shade difference in the foundation.

 Thank you for reading! Until  next time :)
